✈️ URGENT: New U.S. Travel Ban – What It Means If You’re from Myanmar 🇲🇲
Hey everyone –
If you're planning to travel to the U.S. from Myanmar or have loved ones trying to visit, you need to know about the new travel ban announced by former President Donald Trump. It goes into effect this coming Monday, June 9, 2025, and unfortunately, Myanmar is on the full ban list. 😔
❗ What’s Happening?
Trump just signed a new proclamation restricting travelers from 19 countries, and 12 of them – including Myanmar – are fully banned from entering the U.S. That means:
No tourist visas (B1/B2)
No student visas (F, M)
No work or business visas
No family-based immigrant visas (unless exempt)
This applies to everyone applying for a visa after June 9, and likely affects many cases already in the system.

🛑 Countries Facing the Full Ban

Afghanistan
Iran
Libya
Sudan
Yemen
Somalia
Eritrea
Chad
Republic of the Congo
Equatorial Guinea
Haiti
🙋 Who Can Still Travel?
There are some exceptions, so don’t panic if you’re in one of these groups:
You already have a green card
You have dual nationality and use another country’s passport (e.g., Thai or Singaporean)
You’re a diplomat
You have a Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) or were helping the U.S. government
You’re an athlete attending a global event or a close family member of a U.S. citizen under special visa categories
But for most people, especially those applying from Myanmar—this is a hard stop.
💬 What Should You Do?
Here’s what I recommend if you’re affected:
Cancel or hold off on any U.S. travel plans for now unless you’re exempt.
If you have a case in progress, talk to an immigration lawyer ASAP to see if anything can be done.
If you’re already in the U.S. legally, don’t travel abroad unless you’re sure you’ll be allowed back in.
Stay calm and informed — this ban could be challenged in court or overturned depending on the next election cycle.
